On September 2nd and 3rd, 2026 Oron Collaborative was privileged to continue facilitating conversations around countering Technology Facilitated Gender Based Violence (TFGBV). During a stakeholder’s workshop convened by FIDA with support from ELGIA, discussions of how an early warning system specifically focussed on TFGBV would work continued. The workshop looked at different TFGBV scenarios and examined the different referral pathways.
It emerged that for such a system to be effective the referral pathways of supporting TFGBV survivors should have clear standard operating procedures. The pathways (areas of support) that TFGBV survivors would need include legal support, IT/Tech support, psychosocial support, and security support.
It also emerged that coordination around TFGBV remains a challenge and while several interventions and platforms exist to address TFGBV, they seem siloed and uncoordinated.
As Kenya heads towards to 2027 elections, state and non-state institutions need to strengthen their efforts around TFGBV prevention and improve coordination.
